We are loving the fact that although our face to face Community Board meetings have been postponed for a while, we are all still very much connected, through sharing experiences, thoughts and feelings. Margaret Sim, our Community Board member has written us a poem, reflecting on her time during “Lockdown”!
Windows washed…………Cars too
Bodies cleansed………….Now what to do?
Same routine………………Different day
Nowhere to go………..Life’s ‘on delay’.
Watching people in the queue
Having a fag then donning their mask
Don’t mind getting cancer
But frown when I pass.
Self-isolation is the name of the game
Rules about distancing are taking their strain
Walking the wrong way down the aisles
Feel like a criminal as people snarl.
All clean all fresh…….Nowhere to go
Shall I walk round the block or
Go back to the shop?
Alternative is watching the news
How depressing the views
The poor newscaster repeating herself
Let me get back to those shelves!
The cat might like a new menu
I hope so as his usual is ‘see through’!
I know, I’ll see if the loo rolls have returned
Yes!…….Thank goodness…… How my bathroom yearned
For this basic but luxurious item
Never again will I for granted take ’em!
Can’t wait for ‘normality’
To dress up and enjoy
Friends and family
Neighbours and colleagues
To compare notes
And dissect at ease.
It will be nice to see smiles and laughter
People so sullen at each encounter
To enjoy the sun and sunbathing too
Enjoy an ice-cream would be amazing.
Shouldn’t be long now so keep spirits up
Before you know it ‘Lockdown’ will be ‘Lockup’!
Then when we’re all spruced up
We can go somewhere
It doesn’t matter, just good to be there
A drink down the pub
A meal and a chat
Good atmosphere
Will buck us all up.
It will all mean much more
And that’s so true
No more taking for granted
What we used to.
P.S………………… I can’t wait for a haircut!
