Recruitment for new Care City Chief Executive commences
Paul Corrigan, Chair of Care City’s Board of Directors has announced that John Craig will be stepping down as Chief Executive at Care City later this year.
John was appointed as Care City’s Chief Exec in October 2016 following roles including Managing Partner at Innovation Unit and Policy Advisor at the Cabinet Office.
Since then John has led complex, ambitious projects at Care City, including two Test Bed programmes for NHS England and the Office for Life Sciences, work developing a new atrial fibrillation pathway for Barking and Dagenham and social prescribing services to tackle loneliness and isolation. In May 2019, John managed Care City’s transition from LBBD and NELFT, its founding partners, to become a successful Community Interest Company. He also authored A Healthy Living, drawing together stories from across Care City’s work to enhance care.
John said: “I’m excited to be joining UCLPartners in my role of Chief Implementation Officer. However, it is incredibly tough to leave Care City, a team of which I am very proud to have been a part. It is the right time to do it, because Care City is in such a strong place. We have established ourselves as a CIC, as a vital innovation partner in East London and secured new partnerships and a new, permanent home in Barking. I truly believe my successor will have one of the best jobs in our health and care system, and they will have wonderful staff, board members and partners with whom to collaborate.”
Paul Corrigan, Chair, Care City Board of Directors commented “John has made a remarkable contribution to Care City. As Care City‘s first Chief Executive, he has helped create and develop an innovative, dynamic organisation and team, which is fully focussed on its mission of healthier, happier older age for East Londoners. On behalf of the Board, our staff and partners, we thank John for his unwavering contribution and commitment to the transformation of public services and wish him lots of luck in his new role, with our partners and good friends at UCLPartners.”
